WHY GHAZNI MAHUMUD ATTACKED THE SOMNATH TEMPLE ?

Until the rise of the west, India was richest country in the world. Such a country presented an irresistible target for the revenging Mongols and their who settled in present day Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan all within comparatively easy reach of north-west India.

The Northwest was at this time a mish-mash of warring kingdoms more interested in sending scores with their neighbors than in unifying against the Mongols. It is then unsurprising that muhmud ghaznavi’s armies so handily defeated those of the Indian kings.

Born in 971 AD mahmud ghaznavi was the eldest son of subuktagin, the king of ghazni (in present days Afghanistan) when subuktagin attacked king of jaipala of Punjab, muhmud fought for his father in the battlefield.

Though mahmuad was the eldest son of his father it is said that in his last days subuktagin was nit hally with mahmud so when subuktagin died in 99t AD his younger son Ismail became the king of ghazni. Ismail reigned only for a little time very soon mahmud defeated him and became king.

Mahmud began a series of seventeen raids to northwestern India at the end of the 10th century nonetheless    he did not attempt to rule Indian Territory  except for Punjab which was his gateway to India.

His first expedition was directed against for frontier towns in 1000 AD

His second expedition was against jaipala the hindushahi king of Punjab whom he defeated in the first battle of waihind jaipala could not survive the shock of humiliation and he burn himself  to death. He was succeeded by his son andapala in 1002 AD.

In his sixth expedition. Mahmud defeated andapala in the II Battle of waihind (1008) Andapala had Organized a confederacy of  rulers uijain , Gwalior, kalimjar, kannuj,
Delhi and ajmer but the alliance was defeated.

In his other expeditions, Mahmud plundered Nagarkot Thaneshwar, kannauj, mathura and somanth.

After looting the somanth temple, when Mahmud was going back to ghazni the Jats had attacked his army. So to punish the Jats he returned and defeated them in 1026.
The objective of Mahmud’s expeditions was to plunder the riches of temples and places was not interested in expanding his empire to India , However he later annexed Punjab and   made it part of his kingdom, just have easy access.

  1. He portioned (Persian poet known as Homer of the east ) who wrote sahnama
  2. Alberuni ( a brilliant scholar from Central Asia) who wrote Tahqiq-I-Hind.

 History of Somnath Temple Gujarat

The Somanth Temple located in the Kathiarwar region of Gujarat is one twelve jyotirings (golden lingas) symbols of the God Shiva. It is Mentioned in the Rig Veda Somath mean “Then protector of the moon God”. It is known as the Shrine Eternal as although the temple has been destroyed six times it has been rebuilt every single time.

The fist temple  of somanth is said to have existed before the beginning of the Christian Era. The Second temple built bu the Maitraka Kings of Vallabhi in Gujarat replaced the first one on the same site around 649 AD in  725 junayad , the Arsb governor of Sind sent his armies to destroy the second temple

The pratihara king Nagabhata II constructed the third in 815 AD a large  structure of red stone sandstone. Mahmud of Ghazni attacked this in 1025 AD and looted it of gems and precious Stones. He then Massacred the worshipers  and  had the temple burnt, it was then that the famous Shiva lingam of the temple was entirely destroyed

The temple and Citadel were sacked and most of its Defenders massacred, Mahmud  personally Hammered the temple’s glided  in to pieces and the stone fragments were carted back to Ghazni, where they were incorporated into the steps of the City’s new Jamiah Masjid.

The fourth was built by the paramara king Bhoj of Malwa and the Solanki king Bhima of Gujarat between 1026AD and 1042AD. The wooden  structures was replaced by kumarpal who built the temple of stone. The temple was razed  in 1297 when the sultanate of Delhi conquered Gujarat and again in 1394 AD. The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb destroyed the temple again in 1706 Ad.

The present temple is the seventh temple built on the original site. It was complete on December 1, 1995 and then president of India Dr.Shankar Dayal sharma dedicated it in the service the nation. Many of them Said she would't walk so she became a swimmer, biker, international athlete

She is an accomplished swimmer, adventure sports player, international athlete, biker, and entrepreneur. And this Limca Book record holder has done all of this while being confined to a wheelchair. Meet 45-year-old Deepa Malik, who refuses to let her disability come in the way of her dreams.

An ‘army kid,’ Deepa’s life had been full of thrills and adventures growing up. “I was always an outdoor person. I would do unconventional things ever since I was a child. Other children used to sit on the swing and I would stand on it and hang on to the ropes. I loved bikes and even got married because my husband supported my passion for biking. You can say I got convinced to get married at the early age of 20 just for a bike,” Deepa laugh

But her life took a twist when a spinal tumour confined her to a wheelchair 15 years ago. After three tumour surgeries and 183 stitches between her shoulder blades, Deepa became paraplegic (paralysed from waist down).

This was a very difficult phase in Deepa’s life as her husband was fighting in the Kargil war and both her daughters were young. In fact, her elder daughter Devika required special care since she was a case of congenital hemiplegia, a unilateral motor disability that made some parts of her body non-functional.

“It was a tough time indeed. But being from an army background, we are raised to handle such situations. We are prepared for our husbands not being around. That time, being alone gave me more strength to fight with the situation because my husband was fighting in a war. And it was important for at least one of us to be alive for our daughters. I had no other choice but to accept it and get over it,” says Deepa.

The family won both wars. Her husband returned safe from Kargil and Deepa got rid of her tumours, although she now had to be in a wheelchair all her life. It took her three years to accept the fact that her condition was permanent but she was finally able to do so with her family’s support.

Not willing to spend the rest of her life in a closed room, this fighter decided to chase her dreams despite her condition.

Deepa began to pursue her first love, biking, earnestly. She joined the Himalayan Motorsports Association (H.M.A.) and Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (F.M.S.C.I.). She biked 1,700 km in eight days in sub-zero temperatures, sustaining herself in extreme climates with oxygen shortage at an altitude of 18,000 feet.

Though Deepa went on to achieve many extraordinary things, success did not come easy to her. To follow her passion for biking, Deepa needed an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), also known as a quad bike. Deepa could not afford an ATV due to its high price but she wasn’t one to give up easily. She found a sponsor through a newspaper appeal and had the bike modified to suit her condition.

Deepa got her motorsport licence only after her doctor had certified her health. She also did many test drives on off-road circuits to check her reflexes and her vehicle’s mechanics.
Already excelling in the field of biking, Deepa started swimming to strengthen her shoulders so that she could perform better in biking. Hardly did she know that one day she would be breaking records in this sport.

She became the first female athlete to represent India at the Paralympics, since the country’s debut at the Games in 1968. Deepa won the Arjuna Award in 2012 for her performance in swimming. She has 54 national gold medals and 13 international medals in various sports including swimming, javelin throw and shot put.

In fact, she has registered her name four times in the Limca Book of Records for her sporting achievements. This includes crossing a 1 km stretch of the Yamuna river against the current in 2008, covering 58 kms by riding a special bike in 2009, doing the longest (Chennai-Delhi 3,278 kms) pan-India drive by a paraplegic women in 2013, and driving across nine high altitude passes in nine days on Ladakh’s highest motorable roads. She was the first woman in the world with her disability to attempt a journey like this in 2011.

But gradually, with her impressive performances, Deepa did not just win the nation’s heart but also played a crucial role in conveying the needs of paraplegic athletes to the authorities.

Deepa has her eyes set on participating in the Rio Paralympics in 2016. She follows a strict schedule of practice four times a week. This is followed by her biking adventures on weekends.

She stays in Gurgaon alone since she has to practice on a regular basis, which is not possible in Ahmednagar where her family stays. She visits them often and is living an independent and successful life.

“One thing that has kept me going is my will to go out. When I first found out about my condition I knew that this was not me – I cannot be on a bed all my life. I had to go out and I did,” says Deepa.

BIG CHANGES COMING in to IPHONE 7 WHICH MAKES MUCH BETTER

Apple will reveal the iPhone 7 on Wednesday during its big iPhone event, and we already have a pretty good idea of what it'll be like thanks to innumerable rumors. It might not seem that exciting, as it's expected to look nearly identical to the iPhone 6s. But a closer look at some of the most anticipated new features could change your views about the new iPhone.

The larger iPhone 7 Plus is said to come with a dual-camera.

Several Android smartphone have adopted dual-cameras, which offer better zooming, better low-light performance, and better contrast in pictures, but it's still unclear what benefits Apple's dual-camera will have on our mobile photography.Meanwhile, leaks and schematics supposedly showing the regular iPhone 7 also show a larger single camera, which could give the iPhone 7 a well-needed boost in low-light photography.Once the shining light of mobile photography, Apple has recently lagged behind other phones, notably the Samsung Galaxy S7. Perhaps the new cameras will once again put the iPhone on top.

Rumors about a new color option began with a dark blue model, but that evolved into a matte black option to replace the "Space Gray" model. Now, the latest rumors claim we'll see a matte black AND a glossy black color option of the iPhone 7, both of which look gorgeous in renders. If true, it could mean five options rather than the usual four, including silver, gold, rose gold, matte black, and glossy "piano" black.

Apple is reportedly ditching the 16GB base storage option for the iPhone 7, and is increasing the base storage up to 32GB, according to Joanna Stern of the Wall Street Journal. This is huge, because 16GB isn't realistically enough for today's uses, especially as Apple added new features like Live Photos and cameras with a higher megapixel count on the iPhone 6s that take up more storage than previous iPhone did. It's still unclear whether or not the added storage will drive up the price of the iPhone

The A9 chip in the iPhone 6s helped make it the most powerful smartphone in the world, destroying other smartphones in benchmark tests and general performance. Now, the A10 is supposedly even more powerful, according to benchmark results obtained by AppleInsider. That means potentially faster app load times, as well as faster performance when restarting and updating. It could have a better battery life
