Popular messaging app Whatsapp is now going to launch a version to enable users to make digital payments. Union IT Minister Ravishankar Prasad had a meeting with the Facebook-owned Whatsapp co-founder Brain Acton on Friday on the issue. As part of the efforts aimed at promoting the Digital India Campaign, the Union IT Minister asked the Whats App for greater usage of local languages.
“We will
continue to invest so we can help more people across India, and we hope to
contribute more to India’s vision for digital commerce in the future,” Acton
added.
At present, Whatsapp
has over 200 million users in India alone.
